News from News Web (Text by Wei Linhua from School of Automotive Engineering, Photos by He Zhizhong and Ahmed from Scientific Research Division) On January 27, 2018, Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College which has actively responded to “the Belt and Road” Initiative further put the project of internationalized school-running into practice: Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College, LiuGong and Catani Group- a dealer of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made substantial progress in preparing to build Catani College co-founded by them, and will start to recruit students and run school in October this year.

Since 2006, LiuGong has started to cooperate with Saudi Arabia Catani Group and spared no effort to expand business in Saudi Arabia; so far, LiuGong has sold more than 2,100 complete machine in Saudi Arabia, and Catani Group has made considerable achievements and expanded its business to the neighboring countries such as Yemen, Syria, Iran, etc. To meet the Group’s employment needs and reserve talents for business development in future, the Group has sought for support from LiuGong and Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College; in 2016, three parties signed the Intention of Cooperation in Running Schools, under which, Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College would take charge of specialty teaching and management consultancy of Catani College, and LiuGong would take charge of technology and relevant training support; in the same year, three parties launched the preparation for building Catani College; by the end of 2017, the examination and approval formalities for school-running qualification, the preparation for land use, civil engineering design, faculty recruitment, etc. Have been completed; and about 200 students majoring in engineering machinery for two-year schooling system will be enrolled from October 2018.

At the invitation of Saudi Arabia Catani Group, Lin Ruosen- vice president of Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College, He Zhizhong- chief of School-Enterprise Cooperation Department, Wei Linhua- dean of the School of Automotive Engineering and Huang Guangzhou- training director of LiuGong International Business Division, arrived at Damman, Saudi Arabia on January 25, and had in-depth discussion and communication about specialty training standards and cooperation details with relevant responsible persons of Catani Group, so as to ensure to start up declaration of relevant specialties with the least delay possible. After several discussions, the three cooperating parties determined the work programs, clarified their respective responsibilities, reached a consensus on cooperation details, and completed the confirmation on text of cooperation agreement.

This negotiation was attached with high importance by Saudi Arabia Catani Group, and the Group’s board chairman Sheikh Tariq visited the discussion site in person and introduced the Group’s development strategy, employment needs and school-running philosophy in details. Lin Ruosen also introduced the development of China’s manufacturing industry, school-running principle for cooperation between Chinese vocational education schools and enterprises, and school-running achievements and internationalized cooperation principle of Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College to Saudi Arabia partner in details, and conducted the negotiation in a friendly atmosphere. Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College’s advanced school-running philosophy and abundant achievements in school-running left a deep impression on Saudi Arabia partner, and the professional level, work style and work achievements of the project team were also highly appreciated by the partner.

Saudi Arabia Catani College is proposed to be built in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College’s teachers will be its main force of faculty. The project construction is LVTC’s another important measure to respond to “the Belt and Road” Initiative and Enterprise Going Out and carry out the international development strategy. Through this cooperation, Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College intends to start from cultivating after-sales service talents of engineering machinery in Saudi Arabia, and help Catani College jointly run school by gradually expanding to other relevant specialties such as manufacturing industry, service industry, etc. Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College will offer the construction and management consultancy for Catani College during the whole process, and take charge of the establishment of all specialty standards, curriculum development, textbook compilation, relevant faculty training and examination certification. After the project implementation, Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College will explore in great depth the international export of school-running pattern and standards of Chinese vocational education under school-enterprise cooperation, give full play to the demonstration and leading role of national demonstration higher vocational school, and expand the international influence of Chinese vocational education.
