News from News Network (Written and photography by Guo Chuang from College of Art & Design) On April 27, 2018, the award ceremony for the autumn competition of the 15th Academy Award of Advertising Festival of Chinese College Students (hereinafter referred as Academy Award) held by China Advertising Association (CAA) was convened ceremoniously in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. The work “Happy Aquarium” produced by Yang Haowei, Xie Hong, Cai Yanhui and Zhou Xusheng, who were the Class 2015 students majoring in television animation of the College of Art & Design of LVTC, was awarded a national silver award of micro film; the work of Jiang Lanting and Liao Xiangxiang titled “Red cheeks like a lotus, good skin like snow” was awarded an excellence award of TV advertising; the style design titled “Warrior spirit of dragon show” created by Yang Weihao, was awarded an excellence work of enterprise, and Guo Chuang was dubbed as the excellent tutor.

Academy Award is the first and the only advertising competition of college students authorized by the State Council, and it is also the only national art game of advertising for college students held by CAA and approved by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC) with various contents such as academic discussion, creative competition, entertainment selection and talent exchange. This game has built a high-end platform of selection by fully utilizing many social resources. As the core program of advertising art festival of the Chinese college students and being held for 15 sessions, Academy Award has played a significant role in colleges and universities across the country and its influence has expanded from colleges into advertising industy, so it becomes a vital channel where companies search for advertising talents and creative designs.

There were 12 topics in the 15th Academy Award, and each topic has been designed for different kinds of enterprises. 171268 works in 135800 groups were received from universities and colleges students all over the country, a new record of the number of works for the Autumn Competition. The appraisal was made and the final awards were determined by the senior specialists from advertising industry and educational circle. The film contest with the topic on Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park came out with 1 gold award, 1 silver award and 3 bronze awards. The micro film titled “Happy Aquarium” produced by Yang Haowei et al., taking the images of seven adorable animals of the Ocean Park as the basis of their creative idea, highlights the happy atmosphere of the Park by utilizing flat cartoon characters and Hip-pop style, and enables the adorable animals with the contents of fashion. The film frame looks vivid and the characters are lively and interesting image, and the work can be used for good communications. Finally, this work stood out and was awarded the silver award because of its fresh design and strong professional skills.

In recent years, LVTC has attached great attentions on cultivating the ability of practice and innovation of students and provided energetic support to students to participate in all kinds of professional skill competitions. Besides, LVTC combines competition with teaching and learning practice and actively promotes training, teaching and learning with competitions so as to promote students’ abilities for application and practice. In this competition, LVTC students showed their national-level presentations and elegant demeanor of the school to the public, which embodies the idea of combing teaching and practice in talent cultivation and manifests the strength of LVTC in school running.
