A Delegation of Hong Kong Vocational Training Council Visited LVTC’s School of Environmental and Food Engineering
News from News Center (Text and Photos by Xie Xiaoyu and Huang Ning from School of Environmental and Food Engineering) On September 26-29, 2018, a 12-person academic exchange delegation of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education under Hong Kong Vocational Training Council visited LVTC.
On the morning of September 27, Vice President Yang Yi, the leaders from Educational Affairs and Training Management Office, Student Affairs Office and International Exchange Office, as well as the teachers and students from School of Environmental and Food Engineering met the teachers and students of the delegation at Conference Room 300. Vice President Yang Yi gave a welcome speech, hoping to take it as an opportunity to strengthen learning, exchange and cooperation between Guangxi and Hong Kong and to jointly seek for the development of vocational education.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the training base of School of Environmental and Food Engineering, watched a comprehensive training course, and conducted in-depth communication and discussion with teachers and students in pertinent majors on the talent training mode, teaching methods and training content.
On the morning of September 28, the delegation, together with the teachers and students from School of Environmental and Food Engineering, went to Pingshan Xincun Community to carry out the assessment survey on the nutritional status of the elderlies in Hong Kong and the mainland. They collected information about the health status of the elderly by distributing questionnaires, measuring height, weight, arm circumference, calf circumference and other basic data, to provide important support for the research in related fields. The activity attracted the participation of nearly 100 elderlies at Pingshan Community. In the process of data collection, teachers and students answered the questions raised by the elderlies patiently and carefully, assessed the nutritional status of the elderlies on site, and gave suggestions on reasonable dietary to the elderlies. The activity were highly praised by the citizens.
During this activity, the delegation made a multi-aspect interaction with 12 students from School of Environmental and Food Engineering. The students from Hong Kong and the mainland conducted exchanges on subjects of common interest, formed support groups, sent small gifts to each other, and had a group photo. During the visit in Liuzhou, the delegation also visited Guantang Campus, Liuzhou Huanjiang Waterway and Liuzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Through a series of activities, Liuzhou and LVTC left a wonderful and deep memory to the delegation. Both parties hope there will be more exchange opportunities to expand students' horizons and jointly improve the vocational education level.
