Reciting Chinese Classics and Carrying forward Chinese Culture - 2022 Chinese Classical Poems&Essays Recital Contest Successfully Held at LVTC

News from News Center (Text by: Li Weina, School of General Education Photo by: Liao Weiqiang, Wanwei Eloquence Association) ◄ On June 17, 2022, the final of “2022 Chinese Classical Poems & Essays Recital Contest” as part of the general skills competition of academic year 2021-2022 of Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College (LVTC) was successfully concluded at T4-D401 on Guantang Campus. The contest was jointly sponsored by the School of General Education, the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, and the CYL Committee of LVTC, undertaken by the teaching team of higher vocational Chinese courses, and co-organized by Wanwei Eloquence Association. Li Xiaoling, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department, Wei Yaoye, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Automotive Engineering, Chen Qing, Deputy Dean of the School of General Education, leaders of other functional departments and secondary schools, secretary of the CYL Committee, teachers, guests, and students from the secondary schools watched the contest.
The contest was organized by the teachers of the Higher Vocational Chinese Team of the School of General Education. After the first-round in classes and the second-round in schools, contestants in 47 groups were selected for the final. The selected contestants, of no ordinary talent, gave a good account of themselves, presenting a contest so fascinating that the audience felt like being in “China under the Moonlight” in a beautiful scroll, waving goodbye in the starry Milky Way on “Farewell to Cambridge Again”while not bringing away a wisp of cloud, singing “Ode to China” and “Ode to the Yellow River” in “Young China”, chanting “Long Live Youth”, having “Belief in the Future” in “Shine, the Fire of Youth”, and confided “I Love this Land” in ruthless bombardment and shouting ... The melodious reciting and chantingvividly reminded us of the thoughts and emotions of our predecessors. After fierce competition, four first prizes and several second and third prizes were awarded to the winners. The first prizes went to Li Peiwei and Nong Weilin from Class 2, Grade 2021, the Interior Design of the School of Art, Liao Shuping from Class 2, Grade2021, the Apparel and Apparel Design, Zhao Baixin from Class 2, Grade 2021, Computer Application Technology (Software Outsourcing Service) of the School of Electronic Information Engineering, and Du Jintao from Class 2, Grade 2021, Computer Application Technology (Software Outsourcing Service).
Li Xiaoling pointed out in his speech that “Culture is the soul of a country and nation. Splendid and glorious culture shows a prosperous, strong country” and that college students should actively respond to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s call to learn and inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Professor Liang Meiying from the Higher Vocational Chinese Team made wonderful comments after the performance of the finalists.
Chinese classic poetry and proses cover a wide range of things with incisive language and profound thoughts. They are treasures of our excellent traditional culture. Through the event of classic recitation, a tradition of reading and reciting classics has been formed in LVTC. Such a strong atmosphere of learning is effectively fostering our campus culture.
