From News Center (Text and photo by Zhao Cui, Science and Technology Development and School-Enterprise Cooperation Department) Recently, Liuzhou Science and Technology Bureau released the Notice on Identifying the Twelfth Batch of Engineering Research Centers in Liuzhou (LKT [2022] No. 33), and the Liuzhou Laser Processing Engineering Research Center with LVTC as the main applicant was approved, becoming the seventh municipal-level engineering research center of LVTC. The center is also one of the outcomes of cooperation between LVTC and Professor Yang Yatao, a national high-level scholar.
The Liuzhou Laser Processing Engineering Research Center was jointly built by Liuzhou Hongde Laser Technology Co., Ltd. and Liuzhou Beiyida Industrial Co., Ltd., with LVTC taking the lead and Dr. Wen Junxia from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering serving as the person-in-charge. The center is an R&D platform for high-end laser technology and its application, geared towards the automobile, engineering machinery parts manufacturing, and other industries. After the on-site defense, field investigation and expert review organized by Liuzhou Science and Technology Bureau, the Liuzhou Laser Processing Engineering Research Center was finally included in the twelfth batch of engineering research centers in Liuzhou. It is the only one of this batch of five centers led by a higher education institution, which fully demonstrates LVTC's technical strength in laser processing equipment R&D, laser welding, and laser cutting.
According to the needs for transformation and upgrading of the automobile enterprises in Liuzhou and the current development of new energy vehicles inside and outside China, the center will fully use LVTC's strengths, target itself at high-end laser technology R&D, and intensively promote scientific research and technical innovation by focusing on the technical research of laser welding of key power battery components of new energy vehicles, laser cutting of high-strength steel thermoforming parts, and laser processing of ultra-heavy steel plates, thus building an influential scientific R&D and achievement transformation platform in laser equipment R&D and laser processing in Liuzhou. It endeavors to address the application of laser welding and cutting and implement the R&D, application and industrialization of laser processing technology, thus facilitating the transformation of the automobile industry in China.
LVTC currently has seven municipal-level engineering research centers. The approval and construction of this new center will further enhance the ties and cooperation between LVTC and enterprises, continuously improve LVTC's capabilities in scientific and technological innovation and handling of key problems, and better serve the local economic and social development.
