Leading Skills, Champion Worldwide — The Final of LiuGong's 5^th Global Technical Skills Competition is Held in LVTC

From News Center (Text by Xu Yuanjun and Chen Lichuang, School of Automotive Engineering; Photo by Wu Shuai, School of Automotive Engineering) On August 23, 2022, the Final of LiuGong's 5^th Global Technical Skills Competition, sponsored by Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. and co-organized by LVTC, was held at the LiuGong-LVTC Global Customer Experience Center in the Guantang Campus of LVTC.

The final was presided over by Liang Yongjie, Director of International Business Group of LiuGong. Several leaders of LiuGong and LVTC attended the opening ceremony of the final, including Mr. Li Yuning, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of LiuGong, Ms. Xiang Ling, Senior Director of International Business Group of LiuGong, and Ms. Wu Xing, Dean of School of Automotive Engineering of LVTC.

Li Yuning, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of LiuGong, and Xiang Ling, Senior Director of International Business Group of LiuGong, said in their speeches that LiuGong's Global Technical Skills Competition has been successfully held for four sessions since 2014, creating a platform for LiuGong's global service personnel to improve and demonstrate their ability. Li and Xiang also said that the competition is not the ultimate goal, but to find out the gap by practicing on a competitive basis and learning from each other, thus inspiring more service personnel to continuously improve their service skills. Over the years, LVTC has provided excellent graduates for LiuGong and international branches of LiuGong. In particular, many graduates from the LiuGong Class jointly run by LiuGong and LVTC have become the backbone force in international services.

Wu Xing said in her speech that LVTC has a long history of cooperation with LiuGong. From the provision of LVTC's graduates to LiuGong in 1988 to the official signing of the contract of the LiuGong-LVTC International Craftsman College of Indonesia in August 2022, the thirty-four years have witnessed the footprints and beliefs of cooperation between LVTC and LiuGong.

LiuGong's Global Technical Skills Competition is held in the form of individual competition, and falls into preliminary and final rounds. A total of 24 entrants stood out from the 87 entrants in the preliminary round. Most of them came from LiuGong's overseas service system and overseas dealers, and two were students from LVTC. Two teachers (i.e. Chen Lichuang and Chen Dong) from the School of Automotive Engineering of LVTC were invited to serve as the final referees together with senior after-sales service support personnel of LiuGong and technical service experts of Guangxi Cummins Industrial Power Co., Ltd.

The final round includes four competitions, i.e. Oral Analysis of Operating Principle of Diesel Engine, Disassembly, Assembly and Maintenance of Parts, Maintenance of Complete Machine, and Fault Diagnosis and Troubleshooting. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 1+3 competition zones were set up in the final round, i.e. one main venue at the LiuGong-LVTC Global Customer Experience Center of LVTC, and three sub-venues in South Africa, Indonesia and Brazil. At the main venue, the mode of on-site rating was applied. At the sub-venues, competitions were synchronously livestreamed, and the mode of online rating was applied. After online voting, the results will be announced on September 8.

Since the proposal of the strategy of building an open and international LiuGong in 2002, LiuGong has successfully built nearly 30 overseas subsidiaries or independent institutions, 4 overseas manufacturing plants, 5 global R&D bases and more than 300 dealers, exporting products and services to more than 170 countries and regions around the world. 2022 marks LiuGong's 20th anniversary of the overseas business operation. Guided by the reform of building a world-class enterprise with global competitiveness, LiuGong will continue to actively build a synergistic global strategic partnership across the entire value chain by firmly promoting the Total Globalization, Total Solution and Total Intelligent strategy. Through the competition, it is expected to improve the ability of LiuGong's service personnel, and service personnel of LiuGong's dealers and major overseas customers to solve problems of Cummins models, and improve maintenance skills and market-end technical support response speed, so as to provide reliable one-stop services for global customers and further improve customer satisfaction.

The international competition jointly held by LVTC and LiuGong is of far-reaching significance for deepening school-enterprise cooperation, integration of education with industry and international cooperative education, promoting the construction of high-level intelligent construction machinery application technology major and the cultivation of innovative international talents, and for further promoting teaching, learning and reform through competitions.
