From News Center (Text by Liuzhou Daily) On June 25, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China approved the establishment of Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) based on Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College (LVTC). LZPU is committed to cultivating high-caliber, versatile technical and skilled professionals to consolidate talent support for the development of new productivity and the development of a modern industrial system.
Established by the People's Government of Liuzhou City, LZPU is a public undergraduate vocational university. The university offers five undergraduate-level TVET majors: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology, Equipment Intelligence Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Industrial Internet Technology, and Modern Logistics Management. This year, LZPU plans to enroll 1,000 undergraduate students.
Located in Liuzhou—an important industrial hub in southwest China, the only national pilot city for industry-education integration in Guangxi, and one of the first modern apprenticeship pilot cities in China—LZPU is dedicated to cultivating high-caliber technical and skilled professionals to support the transformation and upgrading of Guangxi's advanced manufacturing industry, and build a hub for open cooperation and innovation in vocational education for the ASEAN region. Through these efforts, LZPU strives to make significant contributions to the expansion and enhancement of undergraduate-level vocational education in advanced manufacturing.
LVTC, the predecessor of LZPU, is among the first full-time comprehensive higher vocational colleges approved by the Chinese government in 1998. Over the years, LVTC has developed a distinctive education philosophy of "training master craftsmen with industrial background". It is the only national demonstration college for the advanced manufacturing industry in Guangxi, a national high-quality college, and an institution covered by the National Double High-level Plan. LVTC has won the honorary title of "Outstanding Institution for Employment and Entrepreneurship among General Institutions of Higher Education in Guangxi" for 23 consecutive years, and is also renowned as the "Cradle of Industrial Craftsmen in Guangxi".

The establishment of NVTU and LZPU is a significant step by Guangxi to improve its vocational education system and optimize the structure of higher education during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. This initiative is conducive for Guangxi to optimizing its vocational education and training system, improving the capabilities and standards of higher vocational education to serve economic and social development, and providing talent and intellectual support for building a hub for open cooperation and innovation in vocational education for the ASEAN region and serving the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
Established by the People's Government of Nanning City, NVTU offers five undergraduate-level TVET majors: Architectural Decoration Engineering, Construction Engineering, Software Engineering Technology, Automation Technology and Application, and Modern Logistics Management. In recent years, Guangxi has increased investments and integrated resources to support NCVT and LVTC in improving college conditions and elevating educational standards in line with those of undergraduate-level vocational universities. This effort has laid a solid foundation for the establishment of polytechnic universities. In the next phase, Guangxi, together with Liuzhou and Nanning, will continue to strengthen investment and policy support, guiding these two institutions to pursue connotative development while adhering to the principles of vocational education. By strategically planning the majors offered, strengthening the teaching faculty, and promoting distinctive, high-quality education, these institutions will be well-positioned to make significant contributions to Guangxi's economic and social development.
