From News Center (Text and Photo by Zhang Jinyezi from the International Exchange Department (School of International Education)) To further advance the cooperation programs led by LZPU between vocational colleges in China and Indonesia, a special conference was held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, on the morning of October 23, 2024. The conference was convened by Warsito, Deputy Minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia ("the Coordinating Ministry"), and was attended by leaders from relevant departments under the Coordinating Ministry and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia (MoECRT), as well as the presidents of 44 Indonesian polytechnic institutes directly under MoECRT. LZPU and HOPU Overseas Economic Cooperation (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. (HOPU) were invited to participate in the conference online. Liu Zilin, Secretary of the Party Committee of LZPU, attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

At the conference, Liu Zilin highlighted LZPU's achievements and experiences in international education based on the integration of industry and education, gained through cooperation with LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. (LiuGong), Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd. (Gotion), Dongguan NVT Technology Co., Ltd. (NVT), and other companies, as well as Indonesia's Jakarta State Polytechnic, Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya, and Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung since 2023. Liu proposed advancing the "1+10+100+1,000" China-Indonesia TVET cooperation program over the next five years, based on the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance ("the Alliance"). These programs are intended to help Indonesian polytechnic institutes establish a new major in "New Energy Vehicle Technology", organize skill competitions across 10 majors, train 100 Indonesian teachers in China, and recruit 1,000 Indonesian students to study in China. Liu also proposed that the Coordinating Ministry encourage secondary vocational colleges and regular colleges and universities in Indonesia to join the Alliance. This would create a pathway for students from vocational colleges to pursue advanced education. Additionally, Liu suggested exploring "3+1" and "4+2" cooperative undergraduate and master education programs for both Chinese and Indonesian students.

Warsito and the other leaders present expressed their high appreciation for Liu's speech. They believed that the "1+1+1" school-enterprise joint training model would provide Indonesian students with the opportunity to access cutting-edge technologies and equipment in a corporate environment, enabling them to acquire practical vocational skills. This approach not only offers strong talent support for Indonesia's industrial development but is also expected to effectively address the country's high unemployment rate. Warsito expressed in his summary his hope that Indonesian students and teachers would have the opportunity to study at LZPU and gain practical experience in Guangxi and Liuzhou. The Coordinating Ministry pledged its full support for the China-Indonesia TVET cooperation programs led by LZPU.

At the conference, HOPU's representative stated that the company is willing to provide coordination and implementation support and services for the China-Indonesia TVET cooperation programs, and has pledged to fund visits for 10 Indonesian school presidents and 20 Indonesian student leaders to China every year. This initiative aims to enhance mutual understanding among teachers and students from vocational colleges in both countries and build closer bonds between the peoples of both countries.

From September 28 to 30, 2024, Warsito was invited to visit Liuzhou, China, where he participated in the Launch Ceremony of the Indonesia-China Vocational Education Enhancement Program (the "ICVEEP Program") led by LZPU. During his stay in Liuzhou, Warsito and his team visited LZPU, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd., and Gotion's power battery production base in Liuzhou. They highly praised China's efforts in TVET and its manufacturing technologies.

This conference has further promoted the exchange and cooperation between vocational colleges in China and Indonesia. At the conference, leaders from relevant departments under the Coordinating Ministry and MoECRT, as well as presidents of Indonesian polytechnic institutes, actively engaged in discussions about international education based on the integration of industry and education between China and Indonesia. They reached a consensus on pursuing in-depth cooperation.
