From News Center (Text and Photo by Wang Xinzhi, International Exchange Department (School of International Education)) On November 21, the high-profile World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference 2024 (WVTEDC or "the Conference") kicked off in Tianjin. The World TVET League (hereinafter referred to as "the League") initiated by China was officially established during the Conference, and LZPU was successfully selected into the League.

Qu Fan, Vice President of LZPU, together with Mohammad Nurdin, Chairman of the Association of Presidents of Politeknik Negeri se-Indonesia and President of The Bandung Institute of Technology; Tiur Simanjuntak, Head of International Exchange Department of Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya; and Nga Pham, Head of International Exchange Department of Hanoi College of Electromechanics in Vietnam, attended the Conference.

The League is one of the achievements ("one conference, one league, one award, one competition, one exhibition and one journal") of WVTEDC. Liu Limin, President of China Association for International Exchange, led representatives of director institutions around the world to hold an inauguration ceremony for the League at the opening ceremony of the Conference. In the future, the League will play the role of "rudder" and manipulate the development direction of global technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The first batch of members of the League is composed of 89 institutions from 43 countries/regions on five continents, including 64 representatives from universities and colleges, 12 representatives from enterprises and 13 representatives from industry associations and educational organizations, with a wide geographical coverage. Among the members, 56 TVET-related institutions are from outside China, accounting for two-thirds of the total; and 33 are from China, including 20 TVET colleges, which fully embodies the global nature of the League. LZPU is the only TVET university in Guangxi selected into the first members of the Alliance, fully demonstrating its solid strength and remarkable achievements in promoting the internationalization of TVET.

It is reported that in recent years, LZPU has made remarkable achievements in running the school internationally. The school serves national diplomatic strategies especially for ASEAN countries. We help the local enterprise LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. with overseas development, optimize modes to empower other enterprises' overseas strategies, and share resources and build platforms for enterprises to "go global in groups". LZPU has actively explored and formed a new path for Chinese TVET to go global, from sharing standards and resources to upgrading TVET standards and promoting China's TVET methods. Since 2023, LZPU has successfully trained (order-based) 251 ASEAN students for 8 Chinese-funded enterprises and 40 "going global" Chinese students, provided technical training for 1,248 person times, and compiled 17 mechanical and electrical circuit manuals for 7 types of new energy vehicles and fuel vehicles. Through school-enterprise cooperation programs, LZPU has shared 67 standards and 30 textbooks with ASEAN countries, and developed 32 international courses, which have been used 6,558 person times. It has made important contributions to enhancing the influence, appeal and creativity of Chinese TVET.

WVTEDC is held every two years, and the first conference was successfully held in Tianjin in 2022. With the theme of "Innovation Empowers the Future, Skills Enlighten New Lives", WVTEDC 2024 attracted more than 600 foreign guests from 77 countries and regions around the world, including more than 40 ministerial-level foreign guests and more than 500 diplomatic envoys to China and representatives of international organizations and schools.
